Maine Pond Hockey Classic

The Maine Pond Hockey Classic is nearly upon us once again, so it's time to grab your gear, put your squad together, and test your skills against teams from across Maine. As always, there will be plenty to do throughout the three-day event, from lounging at the beer garden to trying your luck with the slapshot challenge. Our REALTORS® are ready for some winter fun, and we've got all the info you need to enjoy the Maine Pond Hockey Classic this year.

Dates: February 7 – 9, 2020

Location: Snow Pond Center for the Arts – 11 Goldenrod, Sidney, ME 04430

  • Central Maine's Biggest and Best Pond Hockey Tournament
Established in 2013 with a tournament on China Lake, the Maine Pond Hockey Classic has since moved to a location even closer to Sidney homes for sale. The tournament now takes place at the Snow Pond Center for the Arts, and it has quickly grown into one of the most anticipated local events of the winter every year. Teams of all ages and experience levels hit the ice to test their talents, win some games, and have a great time in the process. Join a competitive division to test your skills against the best from across Maine or enter a "just for fun" bracket if you're looking to enjoy the ride.

  • A True Maine Tradition
Pond hockey is so much more than just a way to kill time when the weather turns cold, and the Pond Hockey Classic exemplifies everything great about this Maine tradition. For so many, pond hockey has long been a way to connect with friends, enjoy the outdoors, and turn the coldest winter days into the most anticipated time of the year. It's a feeling that never leaves you because there's just something magical about stepping on the ice.

  • Food, Fun, and Activities at the Pond Hockey Classic
Whether you're playing in a tournament or coming to cheer on your favorite squad, you'll find plenty to see and do throughout the Maine Pond Hockey Classic. The beer garden and food court will be serving up hot food and cold beer throughout the event. Kids can learn new skills at the youth clinic, and everyone can spend time on the ice at the community rink. There are tests of skills like the slapshot challenge and educational events like the curling demo. If you're feeling brave, you can even take a dip into the icy waters with the polar plunge.

  • Benefit the Waterville Boys & Girls Club and YMCA
In addition to providing an excellent time for everyone who attends, the Maine Pond Hockey Classic benefits a pair of important local causes. Proceeds from the event support the Waterville Boys & Girls Club and the Waterville YMCA, which provide safe, supportive environments where local kids can reach their potential.

  • Get Involved
Looking to watch the action? Then all you need to do is show up, enjoy the show, and explore all that the Pond Hockey Classic has to offer. If you're planning to enter a team, be sure to register in advance. There's a division to suit every team, and your registration fee goes to a great cause.
