Features to Help Sell Your Home

In the coronavirus era, life as we know it has changed dramatically, affecting every aspect of our life. It has also shed light on our lifestyle at home, and home features that would make life a little easier. To help make your home stand out among other Augusta homes for sale, here are the features buyers are looking for this summer.

  1. Home Office
Having a quiet home office or study space will be a must-have. Many companies now see that it is possible for their staff to effectively work outside of the office. Also, people are becoming hyperaware of the features they would like to see in a home office, including more storage, quietness, and better lighting. And since the return to the workplace will be gradual, and some people will stick to telecommuting, there will continue to be a high demand for an office that's comfortable and functional.

  2. Mudroom
The mudroom is usually the main entry point between the kitchen and the garage, and a depository for sports gear, shoes, and coats. With the coronavirus pandemic, the mudroom is more important, serving as a decontamination station and an area to stash potentially infected grocery bags, packages, and takeout bags. If your home doesn't have a mudroom, an easy fix can be found in the garage. You can install shelves, hang bins to hold packages, and put in a bench with cubicles for shoes and boots. Alternatively, you can carve out some space on the front entryway or front porch.

  3. Garage Storage Space
Garages provide valuable storage, especially for growing families with at least two cars and excessive items that cannot be stored elsewhere in the home. Many people have realized the importance of having an upgraded garage that is a beautiful, functional extension of their living space. Make the space easily accessible and wonderfully organized by adding peg wallboards, cabinetry and shelving, additional electrical circuits, and overhead lighting.

  4. Laundry Room
Look at surveys on most-wanted home features by buyers, and a dedicated laundry room will rank highly on most of them. Homeowners want a separate room because of the convenience and high functionality they add to homes. They want a dedicated space to take care of all the sorting, ironing, folding, and other tasks that go along with laundry while keeping the mess out of their living space. If you don't have a laundry room, consider adding one in the basement or near the kitchen or bathrooms, where utility lines are already there.

  5. A Walk-in Pantry
The kitchen can be quickly overcrowded when there isn't enough space to store nonperishables and other kitchen essentials. And as we get used to shopping in bulk to avoid having to make frequent trips and face in-store crowds, bigger, walk-in pantries will be needed to create more storage room. Your pantry can be situated in the kitchen area or as an add-on in the laundry room.
