Hiking Trails Near Augusta

The weather is warming up, and it is the right time of year to dust off your hiking shoes and hit the trails. There are trails to explore throughout Maine and our REALTORS® recommend checking out these trails around the Kennebec Valley this summer.

  1. Quarry Road Trail Recreational Area - 300 Quarry Rd, Waterville, ME 04901
Quarry Road Trail Recreational Area features 200+ acres for you to wander through. It's perfect for cross-country skiing in the winter, and ideal for a long walk in summer. You will enjoy the fabulous views, wide-open spaces, and the bond with Mother Nature that you will strengthen with every step you take. When you pick up one of the Waterville homes for sale, these fabulous trails are just a few miles from your front door.
  2. Rotary Centennial Trail - Benton, ME 04901
Pondering which Winslow homes for sale you want to take a look at? Then make a trip over to the Rotary Centennial Trail, where you can clear your mind and organize your thoughts. This flat and level trail is an easy hike and a great place to enjoy a stroll through the woods. At 3 miles round trip, this crushed stone trail is perfect for all ages. Along the route, you will enjoy some fantastic views of the Kennebec River and can take a break at the Rotary granite wheel located at the end of the trail.
  3. Kennebec River Rail Trail - Maine State House, Augusta, ME 04330
You can start your stroll down The Kennebec River Rail Trail right from the steps of the State Capitol in Capitol Park. At 6.5 miles long, it is a fabulous day-long hike for you and your family to enjoy. The trail is just one part of a much larger network that goes all the way over to Calais, Maine, and if you wait just a little longer and feel like going a little bit further, it won't be long before it connects with trails that stretch from here down to Key West, Florida. If you are thinking about Augusta homes for sale, take some time to think about your options as you stroll along this absolutely remarkable path.
  4. Allen Whitney Memorial Forest - Scribner Hill Rd, Manchester, ME 04351
Multiple trails are waiting for you to explore when you visit the Allen Whitney Memorial Forest. During colonial times, the land was owned by the Allen family. Currently, it is one of the New England Forestry Foundation's earliest forests and stands as an example of sustainable forest management.
