National Ice Cream Day Augusta

The summer months are heating up, and our real estate agents have just the solution. Let's eat some ice cream. July 19th is National Ice Cream Day, and we're looking forward to celebrating the only way we know how—visiting some of our favorite ice cream shops in the Kennebec Valley. Be sure to check out these local hot spots when you need to cool off.

  1. Fielder's Choice Ice Cream - 937 Western Ave, Manchester, ME 04351
One of Maine's favorite local ice cream makers for over 15 years, Fielder's Choice Ice Cream creates a dizzying array of flavors. All of them are made from the finest ingredients, using recipes that haven't changed since the day they opened. Fielder's has several locations in and around the Kennebec Valley, including one just minutes from these Manchester homes for sale. And if a regular cone feels a little too basic, their menu offers everything from sundaes and floats to milkshakes and frappes.

  2. Gifford's Famous Ice Cream - 170 Silver St, Waterville, ME 04901
Indulging in Gifford's Famous Ice Cream is a true joy. Made using local ingredients at their family-owned creamery in Skowhegan, Maine, Gifford's has ice cream stands all over the state, including one of our favorites near these Waterville homes for sale. Be sure to check out their ever-changing flavor of the week specials, as well as dozens of classics like Sea Salt Caramel Truffle and Maine Wild Blueberry.

  3. Pa's Place - 1892 Hallowell Rd, Litchfield, ME 04350
Another amazing local ice cream maker, Pa's Place has some great traditional flavors. But they really shine when it comes to creating left-field experiments and specialty flavors, like "Breakfast Blend" (maple-flavored ice cream with chunks of waffle cone and bacon). Right down the road from these Litchfield homes for sale, Pa's Place also makes it a point to use local ingredients whenever possible. Plus, for anyone who happens to be vegan or lactose-intolerant, they have a dairy-free coconut-based ice cream on the menu!

  4. The Ice Cream Shoppe - 347 Water St, Randolph, ME 04346
Cones, sundaes, banana splits, shakes, floats, smoothies—the Ice Cream Shoppe has a dazzling array of options. They serve dozens of Hershey's Ice Cream flavors, as well as selections from Shaker Pond Ice Cream, which is made just down the road in Alfred, ME. We recommend enjoying your flavor of choice in a specialty dipped waffle cone. The Ice Cream Shoppe has three locations in the Kennebec Valley area. The Randolph location is our favorite, with a back deck overlooking the Kennebec River, a stone's throw from these Randolph homes for sale.

  5. Deb's Ice Cream & Mini Golf - 32 Water St, Randolph, ME 04346
A tasty ice cream cone and a round of mini-golf go hand-in-hand on a hot summer day, and Deb's Ice Cream & Mini Golf is the place to go if you want both. Located less than 15 minutes from Augusta and these charming Augusta homes for sale, Deb's always has a fun rotating selection of hard ice cream flavors, as well as delicious soft serve. It's a great place to take kids for an afternoon!
