Watervile Opera House

The Waterville Opera House is one of the most celebrated venues for the performing arts in Central Maine. Located near many of our Augusta homes for sale, this gorgeous building dates back to 1902 and has been carefully restored to allow for its continued use. Today, the building hosts a mixture of live and recorded performances that offer a little something for everyone. Let's take a look at a few of the shows they have in store for the community in the coming months.

  • The Nutcracker
Looking for a little magic this holiday season? Check out the Bossov Ballet Theatre's rendition of The Nutcracker at the opera house. This classic ballet tells the story of young Marie (often called Clara in other versions of the tale) and her journey into the Land of Magic after she receives a special nutcracker doll as a Christmas gift. Between the beautiful pointe dancing and Tchaikovsky's incomparable score, this show is sure to dazzle and delight audiences of all ages. It's only available for four performances: December 9th and 10th at 7:00 PM and December 10th and 11th at 2:00 PM. It's extremely popular, so book your tickets early!

  • The Play That Goes Wrong
Be prepared to laugh when you get tickets for The Play That Goes Wrong. The show focuses on Cornley University Drama Society's opening night and all the disastrous events that take place. Compared to Monty Python and Sherlock Holmes, this production takes to the stage March 31, April 1, 7, and 8 at 7:30 PM. Or catch a matinee show on April 2 and 9 at 2:00 PM. There is also special pricing available for 2023 season pass holders.

  • Whose Live Anyway?
Looking for more laughs at the Waterville Opera House? The cast members of Whose Line Is It Anyway are bringing their improv tour Whose Live Anyway? to the Waterville Opera House stage. On April 19 at 8:00 PM, Ryan Stiles, Greg Proops, Jeff B. Davis, and Joel Murray will delight the audience with improv comedy for a memorable one-of-a-kind show. If you're a fan of the long-running TV show or just a fan of comedy in general, this is a show sure to make you laugh.

There are so many ways to enjoy the arts in the Waterville area. The Waterville Opera House has more shows planned to close out 2022 and throughout 2023.
