It prides itself on a family-friendly experience provided by a volunteer staff. Spruce Mountain is jointly owned by three nearby communities: Jay, Livermore, and Livermore Falls. You are welcome to enjoy the facilities whether you're a local or not. During the season, the slopes are open on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, closing at 8 p.m. most days. Adult rates start at $25 per person. Additional donations are gratefully accepted but not required.

Quarry Road Recreation Area is just a short journey from Waterville homes for sale. It has made a name for itself with the competitive cross-country skiing and downhill skiing races it hosts throughout the season. Its biggest fans never miss out on season passes for discounted access to these groomed trails. Spectators are welcome to attend the many races, which attract athletes from coast to coast. Situated just two miles from downtown Waterville, Quarry Road encompasses just over eight miles of Nordic ski trails plus five miles of single-track trails. The latter are used for mountain biking, hiking, and snowshoeing. Hours and trail conditions vary throughout the season, so check the website for details. Quarry Road is owned and operated by the Department of Parks & Recreation in the City of Waterville.
- Titcomb Mountain – 180 Ski Slope Road, Farmington, ME 04938
If you are looking for premium skiing within an hour's drive of Augusta, you need to look no further than Titcomb Mountain. This highly affordable ski area welcomes guests of all ages. Those five and under or 70 and older always ski for free. There are children's lessons available both after school and on Saturdays. University of Maine (Farmington) students also qualify for a free season pass. Opt for the Titcomb Mountain season pass, and you will also receive complimentary access to the Farmington Ski Club. If you are just getting started with skiing or want to advance to a new level, consider the private lessons from expert instructors. Lesson tuition is $40 and includes ski lift access for the full day. Need some equipment? Skis and snowboards are also on hand to rent for a modest fee.
