Pancake Day

National Pancake Day is coming up on February 21, 2023, and there is only one way to celebrate. Take a break from looking at Augusta homes for sale, and order a tall stack of pancakes from one of these local restaurants.

  • Mulholland's AHOP: 100 Western Ave., Augusta, ME 04330
Mulholland's AHOP opened in 1977 and has been an Augusta favorite ever since. This family-friendly restaurant serves breakfast all day, and pancakes are, indeed, their specialty. The AHOP Platter is a favorite order. It comes with 2 plain pancakes, eggs, and your choice of breakfast meats.

Mulholland's AHOP also offers some unique pancake varieties. The Cheddar Cheese Pancakes are a savory twist on the classic. Guests also love the Pineapple Pancakes and the Raspberry Pancakes. Regardless of the flavor you choose, you can order your pancakes plain or whole wheat.

  • Lisa's Restaurant & Lounge: 15 Bangor St., Augusta, ME 04330
    Lisa's Restaurant & Lounge
is well known for their filling, homemade breakfasts. Their plate-size pancakes are a fan favorite, and they are truly as large as a plate. Order one or two – either way, you'd better be hungry!

Lisa's also offers fruit pancakes with apples, raspberries, or blueberries. Their Silver Dollar Pancakes are also adorable and a great choice for kids. Add a side of bacon or ham, and you have a scrumptious breakfast.

  • Erica's: 105 College Ave., Waterville, ME 04901
With a modern vibe and a welcoming atmosphere, Erica's is a great place to grab a late breakfast with family or friends. They're open Tuesday - Sunday from 1 am - 2 pm.

The pancakes at Erica's are tall and fluffy. You can ask for strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, or even chocolate chips on top for a small upcharge. Or, indulge in the Cinnamon Roll Pancake. If you're a cinnamon roll lover, this might be a new favorite.

  • Jorgensen's Cafe: 103 Main St., Waterville, ME 04901
Jorgensen's Cafe is another Waterville staple known for its homey coffee shop atmosphere. The espresso drinks here are wonderful and very authentic, and you should definitely order one alongside your pancakes.

At Jorgensen's Cafe, you can choose between plain and Maine Blueberry pancakes. They come with a side of bacon or sausage – your choice. The blueberries are fresh, sweet, and well worth ordering. Guests also rave about the bagels here, so you may want to order one "to go."

  • Downtown Diner: 204 Water St., Augusta, ME 04330
If you're in the mood to visit a classic diner, Downtown Diner is the place to go.

On National Pancake Day, the obvious meal to order would be the Maine Breakfast, which comes with pancakes, eggs, bacon, and sausage. Of course, the Eggs Benedict are incredible, too, and well worth ordering on a different occasion.

Whichever restaurant you visit, we hope you have a lovely time on National Pancake Day.
