Fall Fireplace

After looking at plenty of Augusta homes for sale, you've managed to find the perfect one for you. It has everything - including the fireplace you've always wanted. And if you want to give your living room a cozy, fall vibe, that's just the place to start. Here are a few ideas for giving your fireplace an autumn makeover.

  • Fall Wreath
Wreaths aren't just for the holiday season. Many home decor stores have autumn wreaths in red, orange, and yellow hues. Some are made to look like twigs and fallen leaves, while others incorporate pumpkins, acorns, and even cornucopias into the design. You can hang one big one in the center over the mantel or get a couple of smaller ones to put on either side.

  • Candles
Even if the fireplace isn't lit, you can still feel the cozy flickering flames illuminating your living room. A couple of candles on the mantel can create great mood lighting with a fall feel. Try putting a couple of candles into lanterns as well, and place them on either side of the mantel. You can also add to the ambiance by getting scented candles with your favorite autumn aromas, like apple cider and pumpkin spice. Or if you'd rather not deal with open flames on the mantel, you can always use tea lights.

  • Dried Bouquets
Just because your garden is going dormant for the season doesn't mean you can't still have flowers. Dried bouquets are perfect for fall, with flowers like hydrangeas, chrysanthemums, lavender, and peonies. Add some sticks and a few fall leaves, and you've got the perfect centerpiece for your mantel. And while fresh bouquets wild and die within a few days, a dried one will last for months, with no required maintenance.

  • Cornucopia
A cornucopia is one of the definitive fall decorations, and your mantel is the perfect place for one. A wicker horn filled with small pumpkins, squash, grains, and other fall fruits and vegetables can be a colorful way to display autumn abundance.

  • Halloween
Carve a couple of small pumpkins and put them on either side of the mantel. Stick some plastic spiders and bats to the mantel, as well as the wall just above it. If you have a mirror on the wall, cover it in a black, translucent fabric that can still be seen through. Then, complete the look by putting cotton cobwebs over the whole affair. You can make it as simple or elaborate as you want, but a few mantel decorations are the quickest way to get into the Halloween spirit.

  • Faux Fireplace
What if your new home doesn't have a fireplace? You can still replicate the cozy feel of one. There are plenty of YouTube channels with videos of crackling fireplaces that last for hours. Put one on your TV and let it play in the background during parties. You can even install a shelf above the TV to act as the mantel and decorate in fall ambiance. Add a space heater to provide warmth, and you've got all the comfort of a fireplace with none of the maintenance.

These are just a few of the things you can do to make your home look and feel like fall. Contact us if you're ready for a house you can decorate and make your own any season of the year. Our real estate agents will help you find the home of your dreams.
