Augusta Bikes

If you're ready to enjoy some of the best cycling in the Augusta area, then our real estate agents are here to help you maximize your enjoyment. Biking is one of the most popular pastimes in Augusta and is a great way to enjoy the outdoors. You'll want to spend more time outside when you see our area's natural beauty.

When you choose Augusta homes for sale, you will find that you are always within just a short trip of truly outstanding bike paths and trails. Some of these are fully paved trails, while others are off-road trails within parks. Local, state and even national parks are not far from downtown Augusta.

The Augusta area is very well known for its green spaces. Although there are many bike lanes within the city of Augusta itself and many surrounding communities, most local cyclists like to enjoy a trip out to a dedicated bike trail now and again so they can enjoy seeing what they (and their bike!) can do.

One of the best places to do this is Bond Brook Mountain.

Bond Brook Mountain Might Just Be the Best Place in Augusta for Cycling

You don't even have to leave Augusta itself to enjoy some truly amazing cycling. The Bond Brook Recreation Area is an urban oasis of pristine wilderness spanning nearly 300 acres right within the City of Augusta itself. You can explore more than two dozen cycling trails spanning easy, moderate, and advanced options.

There are no fees for entry into Bond Brook Mountain and pets on a leash are always welcome. Pet owners are required to clean up after their pet and should not leave any trash behind. Many of the trails are suitable for a cycling excursion, hiking, or snowshoeing in the winter. There are also groomed ski tracks in the winter.

See the website for specific location information on the following Bond Brook Mountain cycling trails:

  • Western Way
At a length of just over half a mile, Western Way is known for its tough, winding turns, which lead the rider downhill. As the terrain levels off, you'll enjoy switchbacks in a forested setting as well as bridges. You can complete this trail and go directly on to the Dragon's Lair trail, which adjoins it, if you wish.
  • Northern Exposure
A western side trail spanning just over three fourths of a mile, Northern Exposure is mainly a level trail – but it will throw some technical surprises at you that may be just right for improving your riding skills. As you reach the end of this trail, you can choose to continue your journey on Split Rock Trail or Land of Make Believe.
  • Dragon's Lair
With a length just over a mile, Dragon's Lair is the newest of the cycling trails to be found here in Bond Brook Mountain. It is one of the most technically challenging trails you can find in the area, as riders wind in and out of trees while navigating tight turns, dirt berms, and a variety of other tough obstacles from start to finish.
  • Land of Make Believe
Even though it is just a bit less than half a mile, the "Land of Make Believe" is known as one of the most truly iconic tracks in the Bond Brook Mountain system. It descends deep into the valley and then crosses the stream, giving riders a true sense of everything that the Bond Brook Mountain area has to offer and leading to the other trails so you can complete a journey up to three miles.
