Patio Augusta

When the temperature's warm, what better way to enjoy it than spending time on your patio? By sprucing up this area, you can create an outdoor living space that will make your home more fun and functional while adding to its value.

Our real estate agents suggest the following ways to create a summer-ready patio in Augusta:

  • Clean up before making any changes.
Your first step should be cleaning away any dirt and grime left over from last summer or the winter season. From the grill to any outdoor furniture you may have, give everything a good scrubbing, and make sure to sweep and clean away any floor debris.

  • Create spaces for different activities.
The ideal patio will be able to easily accommodate different activities such as relaxing cooking and dining. Try to create an area that has plenty of comfortable seating and another that's equipped with a grill as well as an outdoor dining table with chairs.

  • Use lighting for a warm glow.
From string lights to lanterns to pathway lighting, you'll have plenty of options for making your patio inviting as it basks in a warm glow. Keep things more subdued for sections designed for lounging and relaxing, and add more lighting for an area used for cooking and dining. Some options may be solar-powered, which will reduce your power bill.

  • Make it cozy.
Adding some decorative pillows and a pretty throw for cooler evenings can add a nice touch to your patio. They'll create a cozy atmosphere that will make you and others want to stay in the space longer and relax or socialize.

  • Block out the sun.
If your patio doesn't have natural shade, you'll want to supply some of your own, especially if it's in direct sunlight. Outdoor umbrellas come in a variety of different sizes, colors, and designs to suit your needs and reflect your style. You can also choose an inexpensive sun sail shade, or, if you're open to investing a little more money into your patio, buy a pergola or some privacy walls.

  • Incorporate nature for a dose of life and color.
Use plenty of greenery like potted plants and hanging baskets of lush ferns or colorful flowering plants to beautify your patio and help give it a natural look. And if you have a view of your neighbor's lawn, arrange some tall plants around the edge of your space to create a secluded oasis.

  • Add some pops of color.
By adding some pops of color to your outdoor living space, you can make it look more stylish and interesting. Colors can easily be added with pillows, rugs, and other accent pieces. And if you stick with neutral furniture, you can easily swap out some accent pieces and choose new colors next season.

  • Make a fire pit a focal point.
Fire pit tables are cozy in cooler seasons, but they also are quite functional during warmer seasons. They can make a nice focal point that guests want to congregate around, and they'll help cooler nights be more comfortable.

  • Put in some entertainment options.
Adding some entertainment options will make your patio a go-to destination for family and friends. Spring for an outdoor speaker system, a portable projector to show movies, or some board games (stored safety) that you can play on an outdoor table.
