Augusta Landscaping
While warm summer days are terrific for enjoying every minute of the season's long, sunny evenings, they're also a terrific opportunity to improve your landscaping. Our real estate agents know that the following tasks are ideal projects for days with warmer weather and will make a significant difference in your home's curb appeal.

  •  Restore Your Lawn
Though hot summer weather isn't conducive to growing lush, green grass, there are still things you can do to restore your lawn. Start by ensuring that any pests plaguing your yard are under control. You can control these pests by applying a suitable insecticide, or you can utilize an organic alternative, like introducing predatory nematodes. If your lawn has any weeds, physically remove them by hand or with a weed-pulling tool, or apply a product that targets unwanted weeds.
  • Tidy Up Your Landscaping
Take a few moments to evaluate your trees, bushes, and gardens to identify what areas are looking overgrown or unkempt. Pull any weeds that are invading your landscaping, making sure to remove them down to the root. Then, remove any dead or decaying vegetation. While summer isn't an ideal time for heavy pruning or trimming, it's fine to remove branches or blooms that are obviously dead to ensure your landscaping looks as vibrant as possible. You should also remove dead blossoms from flowers and plants that bloom in the early spring, as doing so will encourage them to bloom again before winter arrives.
  • Plant a Few Late-Blooming Flowers
It's common for flower gardens to look a little dull by the end of the summer. Even plants that bloom during the summer months are looking faded and a little dry. Introduce some color back into your landscaping by planting flower varieties that bloom in the later summer or early fall months. Some popular options include chrysanthemums, black-eyed Susans, dahlias, hydrangeas, asters, and violas. If your plans include listing your home with other Augusta homes for sale, new flowers will give your home the curb appeal it needs to appeal to potential homebuyers.
  • Clean Up Your Deck or Porch
Summer is a fantastic time to ensure your deck or porch is ready for fall gatherings and protected from harsh winter weather. First, make any repairs to damaged or loose wood so that your outside spaces are safe to access. Use a pressure-washer and an appropriate cleaning product to remove dirt, grime, and mildew from your deck or patio. You should also clean any deck furniture that's starting to look dirty. Some materials may be pressure washed, while others should be cleaned using a mild detergent and scrub brush. Then, apply a clear sealant to your deck's wooden components to make sure they're protected from the elements.

A few landscaping projects will enhance your home's curb appeal and keep your lawn and gardens looking their best all year long. Ready to find a home with more space for outdoor activities? Contact us to start your search.
