Farmers Market

Crisp, sunny fall days are the perfect opportunity to explore the rich assortment of fruits, vegetables, and flowers produced from the fertile fields of Maine. Our real estate agents share their favorite farms and farmers markets to visit near Augusta homes for sale

  • Sweet Season Farm - 77 Liberty Rd., Washington, ME 04574
Sweet Season Farm takes their name from the delightful period between mud season in early spring and deer season in fall. U-pick blueberries have been the farm's primary focus since the first blueberry bushes were planted on the 100-acre property in 2003. Peak season is from early July until late August, but the farm store always has a wonderful selection of pre-picked produce, baked goods, and locally-made specialty food products. If you want a weekend getaway, Sweet Season Farm has a charmingly rustic two-bedroom cottage on Airbnb. Store hours are 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. every day but Sunday.

  • Chick's Apple & Berry Farm - 571 Main St., Monmouth, ME 04259
Located on the shores of beautiful Lake Conchnewagan near Monmouth homes for sale, Chick's Apple & Berry Farm is worth a visit for the scenery alone, but you won't be able to resist the luscious Macintosh, Macoun, and Cortland apples available for picking from September into November. Cider and fruit pies are also on sale to take home. Hours are 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. daily, with self-service on weekdays and full-service on weekends.

  • Augusta Farmers Market - Mill Park, 1 Water St., Augusta, ME 04330
Head no further than downtown to find top-quality products from the area's best growers and providers at the Augusta Farmers Market. Choose from fresh fruits and vegetables, tasty baked goods, specialty food products, and flowers that come direct from the source. The market is open from 2 p.m. - 6 p.m. every Tuesday through October. From November through April, the market moves indoors to Buker Community Center each Tuesday from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m.

  • The Milkhouse Farm & Creamery - 445 S. Monmouth Rd., Monmouth, ME 04259
The "organic" designation encompasses more than fruits and vegetables. Milk and yogurt produced at the Milkhouse Farm & Creamery are certified by the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association (MOFGA). Rich, high-protein milk from Jersey cows, which are raised on the farm, is used to make yogurt that's rich in probiotics. Flavors include original, original with organic blueberries, Greek, and Greek with maple syrup. The farm also sells organic pork, beef, lamb, turkey, and chicken that has been humanely and sustainably raised. Cash, checks, and Venmo are accepted at the farm store, which operates on the honor system. Hours are 7 a.m. - 7 p.m., seven days a week.

  • Sheepscot General Store & Farm - 98 Townhouse Rd., Whitefield, ME 04353
Find out first-hand why Sheepscot General Store & Farm has been named one of Maine's best farm stores by New England.com, a regional subsidiary of Yankee Magazine. The farm is certified organic by MOFGA and features one acre of carefully managed vegetables along with larger field crops such as onions, pumpkins, and u-pick strawberries (in season). Along with their own products, the Sheepscot Store carries locally sourced produce from other growers as well as beer, wine, and additional grocery items. Pick up a gift for yourself or someone else from their assortment of locally-crafted artisan products. During your visit, after looking at Whitefield homes for sale, relax over a light breakfast or lunch in the onsite cafe. Freshly baked bread, pastries, and pizza can be enjoyed on-site or purchased to take home. Sheepscot General Store is open 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Sunday.
