With local foods and wines that take advantage of the many fresh, locally sourced ingredients available during harvest season, there are so many different things to try. They pride themselves on creating elegant, upscale pantry goods, along with their outstanding selection of fresh produce and their artisanal butcher shop. Their Farm Store is open every Tuesday-Saturday, and you'll also find their products at local farmers markets.

    Farms aren't the only great places to visit in Maine during harvest season. Cushnoc Brewing Company is your source for locally produced craft beer, and they always have a few special releases this time of year. Visit their restaurant in Augusta for delicious meals and wood-fired pizzas every day, many crafted with locally sourced ingredients. They also offer a special brunch, which is available starting at 11:00 AM on Sundays. Pair your meal with one of their outstanding craft beers or a selection from their wine list.

    Locally owned and located on farmland that's been active for more than 150 years, Applewald Farm has a healthy helping of history to go along with its fresh produce. Their orchard, planted in 1976, now boasts more than 1,000 trees, with more than 20 different types of fruits and vegetables grown on the farm in total. You can stop by their lovely, rustic gift shop to pick up fresh produce, along with unique kitchen supplies, vintage farm items, and their famous apple cider. Their on-site bakery is also well worth a visit, with tons of farm-fresh treats.

  • Harvest Moon Farm – 2243 U.S. Rte. 202, Winthrop, ME 04364
    You might already be familiar with Harvest Moon Farm as an excellent local wedding venue, but did you know it's also a great place to visit during harvest season? They offer u-pick flowers fresh from their beautiful fields, perfect for adding a splash of color to your home this fall. They also have a u-pick apple orchard perfect for a family visit, where you can pick up fresh apples to make your favorite sweet fall treats. The u-pick areas of the farm are open daily from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM, except for Saturdays and Mondays.

  • Lakeside Orchards – 318 Readfield Rd.. Manchester, ME 04531
    Want to give the gift of fresh Maine produce this harvest season? Lakeside Orchards offers special apple gift boxes throughout the fall, packed with fresh, delicious McIntosh, Cortland, Macoun, and Honeycrisp apples. Of course, you can also visit the farm market for fresh produce anytime, head to the orchard for a day of family fun picking your own apples, or stop by the pumpkin patch.
