Maine Maple Sunday

Maine proudly stands out as the #3 producer of maple syrup in the country. Yes, it's true we're not that far from Canada, but maple syrup from The Pine Tree State is in a class by itself.

Whether you slather it on pancakes or slip it in your coffee, our real estate agents know that maple syrup is a local tradition. When you choose Augusta homes for sale, you will have the opportunity to partake in it with some of the freshest maple syrup you can find in the United States.

In Maine, maple syrup season officially begins at the end of March, but tree tapping can start as early as the first few days of January. Some producers get ready as early as December. Maine Maple Sunday will be celebrated on March 27, 2022. As in past years, it's sure to be a sight to behold.

Maine Maple Sunday Is the Kickoff of Maine's Maple Syrup Season

Yes, New York, Wisconsin, Ohio, and a handful of others around the country also participate in maple syrup season. But if you ask us, you need to see it here in Maine to get the full experience! Each year, more than 200 licensed maple syrup makers generate 580,000 gallons of syrup, and it all starts now.

Maine Maple Sunday is the opportunity for Maine's "sugarhouses" to meet new customers and help you indulge your sweet tooth at the same time. It's an organized, annual event (2022 marks the 39th straight year) where producers of all sizes showcase their wares in a festive community atmosphere.

As a result, there are Maple Sunday events all over the state.

Maine Maple Sunday is always honored on the last Sunday in March, but some sugarhouses schedule their own events for Saturday as well. Here are some of the known producers around Augusta who'll offer something special for the big day:

  • Bacon Farm Maple Products – 1427 Pond Road, Sidney, ME 04330
Bacon Farm Maple Products may sound like a combination of most everyone's favorite things, but "Bacon" is the family name, while maple products are the star of the show. Founded in 1881, it's now hosting its sixth generation of family ownership. It offers everything from wedding favors to corporate gifts, with a focus on pure maple syrup, infused syrups, and nuts coated with maple syrup. It's a quick jaunt from Sidney homes for sale.

  • Wolf Creek Maple – 3252 Middle Road, Sidney, ME 04330
Established in 2018 by local entrepreneur Gerry Campbell, Wolf Creek Maple is affiliated with Wolf Creek Farm Store. You can visit the farm store for this season's maple products, which will be on a special display for Maple Weekend. The Farm Store also offers a wide variety of bulk beef products, poultry, pork, eggs, honey, tallow soap, and various other syrups.

  • Pep's Pure Maple Syrup – 170 Lisbon Road, Sabattus, ME 04280
Pep's Pure Maple Syrup is a family-owned business that offers a spectrum of delicious maple products a few minutes from Sabattus homes for sale. Here, you can discover maple cream, maple taffy, and a number of other delightful takes on the classic flavor.

  • Mike's Maple House – 8 Gayton Lane, Winthrop, ME, 04364
