fall home tips

With the fall season here, it's a terrific time to give your home a seasonal makeover. Our real estate agents suggest following these tips to update your home for the autumn months.

  • Decorate Your Kitchen with a Mix of Functional and Fun Pieces
Your kitchen is a perfect spot to begin your fall makeover. Start with your coffee nook; swap out your mugs for seasonal pieces, and add your favorite fall coffee and tea blends. Reusable straws, spoons and stirrers, and mug holders are all functional additions that can give your kitchen a little autumn flair. Add a couple of pumpkins or other pieces of fall decor to complete the look. Swap out your dish towels, sponges, and rugs for autumn-inspired alternatives.
  • Embrace Decorative Lights
Even though decorative lights are more commonly associated with other holidays, a few strands of battery-powered lights are an excellent addition to every room in your home. String a few strands along your fireplace mantle or kitchen cabinets for a soft, cozy glow. Or, if you want to incorporate a little color, look for strands that allow you to adjust the hue and select a festive light pattern. Place a couple of strands on your bookcases or shelves, or decorate your outdoor deck by draping lights on a table.
  • Swap Out Your Throw Pillows and Blankets
A crisp fall evening is an excellent time to snuggle up on the couch with a few comfy autumn-themed throw pillows and blankets. You can integrate your new throw pillows with your couch's everyday pillows for a lush, festive look that won't break the bank. If you have multiple throw blankets that you want to display and use throughout the fall season, consider investing in a blanket ladder. When your blankets aren't in use, they'll function as seasonal decor and lend a bit of texture to the room.
  • Tablescape Your Dining Table
Your dining table will likely serve as the gathering spot for a host of memorable fun evenings, like a Halloween craft session, your first pot of soup for the season, and Thanksgiving. Make sure it sets your desired mood with a bit of tablescaping. Pick up a few fall-inspired pieces to use as your centerpiece, like pumpkins, pine cones, gourds, mums, or even a couple of autumn candles. Add a table runner if desired, or you can use placemats. Next, set out your favorite set of fall dishes to complete the look. A staged dinner table is a necessity when you're listing your home with other Augusta homes for sale; staging helps potential buyers envision themselves in your home.
  • Lay Down a Rug
A new rug is a fast, simple way to makeover any room, including your living room, hallway, bedroom, or deck. Incorporating a new piece will soften the look of the room and ensure that it incorporates your favorite fall patterns and colors. It's also easy to swap the rug for a new one when it's time to revamp your home for the next season.

It only takes a couple of hours to give your home a fantastic fall makeover. Yearning for a home with more space for all your holiday festivities? Contact us to put your home on the market!
